Description from the seller

Niccolò Carteromaco – Ricciardetto
Paris, Francesco Pitteri, 1755

Pp. xlvi,420; 15.8x9.2 cm, contemporary binding in stiff parchment with manuscript title on the spine. Volume I.
With an engraved title page depicting cherubs.

Ricciardetto is a chivalric poem of great editorial fortune between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, inspired by the Ariosto tradition, appreciated for its bright and ironic tone. The eighteenth-century editions, especially printed abroad for Italian publishers, are today sought after by collectors.

Genuine and well-preserved exemplar for the period. Solid binding with the natural patina of time, light margins and spine marks. Inner pages fresh, with the physiological yellowing, sporadic foxing and minimal signs of use. Overall a good exemplar.
