Description from the seller
This impressive French book press from 1880-1910 (also called a document press or copying press) is cast in heavy cast iron with a black-painted surface and richly gilded brass ornaments in Rococo style, such as acanthus leaves and garlands around the screw and arms. The resilient steel screw operates smoothly with a black wooden handle and brass knobs; base plate with wooden pressure surface and square black foot with corner profiles for stability.
Very heavy specimen (min. 15 kg), in good working vintage condition with patina and minimal rust; originally for bookbinding, paper presses or as a notary press, now popular as an industrial decorative piece for office or interior.
Carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
