AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

DESCRIPTION

Burmese silver lime pot finely worked. It is pumpkin-shaped, which in Burma holds a special place, blending spiritual symbolism and culinary importance. According to legend, the different regions of Burma contributed to filling a pumpkin that created humanity by opening itself. And from a culinary point of view, it is an important food that provides vitamins and energy, especially during the monsoon season.

Very beautiful goldsmithing work. The box is made of 5 elements, the tail, the leaf as well as a movable ring are attached to the box by a small fastener (see photos).

It served as a container for slaked lime, which, mixed with arek nut and spices and coated with a betel leaf, was chewed to produce an euphoric effect. This practice endures in Burma (Myanmar).

3 cm in height, 6 cm in diameter, 47 g.

Circa second half of the 20th century, personally collected in Yangon in the early 2000s.

CONDITION

Excellent condition. (see photos).

Will be packed carefully, trackable shipment.
