Jinks Kunst, Spider-Man / school desk (1960) / Unique work, a 40 by 50 cm original street art piece created in spray paint and stencil on a 1960s wooden school desk, hand-signed, dated 2025, in excellent condition, from France, with a Pop Culture theme.
Description from the seller
This original work, titled “B.Boy Spider-man,” offers a striking encounter between childhood nostalgia and the raw energy of urban culture. The artist chose as support an authentic wooden school desk top from the 1960s, whose time-worn marks and original grooves serve as a natural backdrop. In this space once reserved for academic learning, a figure of joyful rebellion now takes center stage: a Spider-man reinvented as a breakdancer.
The character, treated with a precise stencil technique, moves away from its classic imagery to adopt the codes of hip-hop. Clad in a purple hoodie and turquoise baggy pants that float with his movement, he appears frozen in a “freeze” moment, one hand firmly anchored on a dark floor that stretches along the bottom of the desk. The contrast is total between the blond wood, steeped in school memories, and the vibrant colors of the graffiti that bring this forgotten object back to life.
The artwork goes beyond the frame of two-dimensional painting through the mischievous integration of real objects. In the old gutter of the desk, where generations of students placed their tools of work, the artist fixed a pencil and a brush. This collage symbolizes the passage from student to creator, transforming an ordinary school tool into an instrument of artistic freedom. At the bottom right, the signature of Jinks Kunst completes this composition, stamping its mark on this successful fusion of school heritage and contemporary street art.
