Very beautiful Japanese porcelain Imari plate dating from the Meiji era. Richly decorated with a very original design, entirely hand-painted with ships and depictions of European figures in a colonial style. It is interesting to see how the Japanese at the end of the 19th century represented Europeans and their ships. Pretty green highlights, blue underglaze, numerous gilded accents, small drawings under the base. Signature of 6 characters on the back.
