Max Agostini occupies a singular place in 20th-century French painting. Born in 1914, he developed early a keen eye for light and atmospheres, which would become the signature of his entire work. A passionate self-taught artist, he gradually established himself as a master of the landscape, able to capture with rare sensitivity the vibrations of a sky, the gentleness of a coastline, or the poetry of a Provençal village.
His style, immediately recognizable, blends a lively and generous touch with a luminous palette, often dominated by deep blues and warm ochres. Agostini paints on location, as close to nature as possible, giving his canvases a spontaneity and sincerity highly appreciated by collectors. His works have been exhibited in numerous French and international galleries and are today part of several private collections.
