Gold Basin is located in a long field scattered on the western edge of Arizona. Discovered in 1995, the meteorites were dismissed as ordinary rocks by gold prospectors, who found them with metal detectors.
It is believed that Gold Basin is a meteorite of a very long terrestrial age. It is thought that the meteorites fell before the last glaciation thousands of years ago.
As an L4 type, it does not have a large amount of metallic iron, but it is still enough to attract a magnet or trigger a metal detector.
Curiously, gold prospectors were annoyed when their detector beeped and then they found a "plain stone", which they discarded without knowing the value of the meteorites they left on the ground.
