A volume in-12 (170x100 mm), full calf, triple gilt border in the frame of the boards, smooth decorated spine, leather title label, gilt edges (binding of the period). Wear and rubbing on the boards and the spine, head cap trimmed. Interior fresh, without foxing.
Charming edition of this medical treatise adorned with an engraved vignette at the head of the first book.
This foundational text of ancient medicine consists of eight books: the first two books deal with medical theory, hygiene, prevention, and life regimens. Books III and IV address internal diseases and their treatment. Books V and VI are devoted to pharmacology and plant-based remedies. Finally, books VII and VIII detail surgical techniques, instruments, and interventions.
