Vintage English silver-plated hand bell from the mid-20th century (c. 1950s–1960s), made of EPNS silver plate, and presented in its original fitted case.
Description from the seller
This is a vintage English silver-plated hand bell(table or call bell) in its original fitted maroon velvet-lined presentation case, produced in Sheffield, England..
Classic baluster-shaped bell with polished finish, rope-twist border to the rim, ornate handle topped by a decorative finial (possibly a bust/figure); functional clapper for clear ring.
Material: Electroplated nickel silver (EPNS/silver plate).
Mark/Brand: The box interior lid displays a crowned shield crest featuring a central figure (likely a classical/putto/cherub motif), letters AR and a ribbon inscribed "SHEFFIELD”. The same marks are on the bell.
This is a decorative maker's/retailer's/brand mark(common on Sheffield EPNS wares to evoke quality and heritage).
Age/Period: Mid-20th century (likely 1920s–1960s), typical for boxed Sheffield novelties, gifts, desk accessories, or souvenirs.
Condition: Excellent Vintage with good polish.
Weight: 94g only bell and 250g with box
The ornate style, Sheppard mark, boxed presentation, and typical Sheffield output for sentimental baby gifts date it to the mid-20th century, likely 1940s–1960s (post-WWII era peak for such items).
A beautiful, taller ringing treasure of British Sheffield silver heritage – maker-marked, hallmarked, boxed, and ready to gift or cherish!
Shipment: Will be packed with special care.
