Description from the seller
A vase from the Traumland series, a project by W. Mutze - of enormous size.
White porcelain covered with multicolored (shades of brown, gold) enameling made using the mazerunk technique, on which there are unusual botanical motifs.
The Traumland vases are beautifully gilded; the color palette (flowers in delicate tones, against a brown patina) is stunning.
Each vase in this series is hand-painted; the bottom bears a signature with the series name, the designer, and the marking of hand painting.
Walter Mutze – (1893–1963) was a distinguished porcelain decorator.
He collaborated with Rosenthal from 1913 to 1961, where he rose to the position of Chief Master in the Art Department (Kunstabteilung).
