Excellent pure linen quilt, all handmade in Richelieu stitch, Richelieu cutwork, and all the edges cut by hand; this quilt was made by my grandmother for her classic trousseau around the year 1925.
• Positioning: The angel is drawn in the center of the piece, often surrounded by floral or geometric motifs that extend to the edges.
• Cutwork details: In Richelieu, the angel's wings and the spaces around the figure are where the technique shines. The bridges connect the wings to the quilt background, creating a translucent and light effect.
• Materials: Generally done in pure linen or high-thread-count cotton to support the weight of the embroidery and ensure durability after the cuts.
