A brass Empire-style trophy urn, made in France and dating to circa 1850–1900, about 42 cm high with a 13 cm diameter, in good used condition with minor age-related dents on the lid and an inscription reading “Coupe de la Commission Sportive Gecqueur 1er classement des juniors.”

Beautiful decorative Empire-style goblet. France, circa 1880–1900. Measures about 42 cm high, in excellent condition. A few small dents in the lid.
An antique bronze or copper goblet (often referred to as a coupe) that was likely designed as a decorative urn, trophy, or incense burner. In this case a trophy! It displays features of the Empire or neoclassical style, popular in the 19th century, with decorative elements such as a pinecone finial on the lid and ornate feet.
The inscription on the object reads: "Coupe de la Commission Sportive Gecqueur 1er classement des juniors" (Cup of the Sporting Commission Gecqueur, 1st place for juniors), indicating that this piece served as a sports trophy for a specific competition or organization.
