Il giovinetto is an oil on oval panel (34×28 cm), attributed to Eduardo León Garrido (1893-1982), produced in Italy in 1900–1910, Original edition, hand-signed, in excellent condition and sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Eduardo León Garrido (1856-1949) – Rare Portrait on Oval Panel 34x28 – Fine 19th / Early 20th century
Auction listing:
At auction a work of great charm and collectible quality: a portrait of a young figure attributed to the famous Spanish painter Eduardo León Garrido.
The exceptionally interesting element of this work is the support: an oil painting carried out on an authentic oval wooden panel. At the time, the use of wooden panel for portraits was synonymous with prestige and refinement; the wood, unlike canvas, offers a smooth surface that allows the artist to work with extreme precision on the facial features and skin tones, while also ensuring extraordinary brilliance of the pigments.
Main features:
Era craftsmanship: The oval format, typical of late-century excellence in portraiture, gives the painting an elegance without time, perfect for classic interiors or to enrich a prestigious art collection.
Signature: Hand-signed by the author "E.L. Garrido", whose hand is recognizable in the skilled use of light and in the psychological portrayal of the subject.
Materials: Oil on original wooden panel.
State: The work presents in its original state, full of the flavor of the time, ready to be framed and valued.
An unmissable opportunity to acquire a piece of European art history, characterized by a support (the oval panel 34x28) increasingly rare to find on the antique market in these conditions
Note: The frame measures 49x44 as visible in the photo and is included as a courtesy and is not an integral part of the work. Any damage to the frame will not be valid grounds for claims or cancellation of the order.”
