Description from the seller
Splendid specimen of natural Burmese amber containing numerous fossil insects, clearly visible in three-dimensional detail within the resin.
The Burmese amber, also known as Myanmar amber, comes mainly from the Hukawng Valley and is famed for the exceptional quality of its biological inclusions.
This amber is dated to about 99–100 million years ago, dating back to the Cretaceous period, well before the era of the great dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex.
The inclusion shows an insect with an elongated body and two pairs of well-developed wings, characteristic of the Odonata, a group of ancient winged predators.
This type of inclusion is significantly rarer than the common Diptera (flies) found in amber.
The amber displays an intense golden color tending toward brown, with good transparency that allows observation of the insect’s anatomical details. A specimen of notable interest both to collectors and scientifically, ideal for display or advanced collection.
