Japanese bamboo flower basket (hanakago) dating to the 1950s–1960s, in good vintage condition with minor wear, 31 × 31 × 16 cm, 500 g, brown, with its removable bamboo cylinder insert (otoshi).
Description from the seller
Sculptural Bamboo Flower Basket with Bamboo Insert – Organic Branch Design
This is a unique and sculptural Japanese bamboo flower basket (hanakago) with its original bamboo cylinder insert.
The basket features an expressive, organic form constructed from dark-stained bamboo strips woven into two rounded, gourd-like bodies connected in a dynamic composition. The structure is mounted on natural tree branches, giving the piece a rustic and wabi-sabi aesthetic. The combination of smoked bamboo tones and untreated branch elements creates a striking contrast between refinement and natural wildness.
The removable bamboo cylinder (otoshi) is included, allowing the basket to be used as a functional flower container. This type of basket is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremony settings or for ikebana flower arrangement, where the sculptural form enhances the display of seasonal flowers.
A highly decorative and artistic piece that works beautifully as both functional ikebana ware and as a standalone object of Japanese craft art.
