This work extends Algo's plastic research into the emergence of the figure and its persistence in the collective unconscious. On the border between abstraction and figuration, the canvas explores the fragile emergence of a presence in an unstable pictorial field.

Dominated by dark blue and black tones, the composition evokes an immersive, almost abyssal space. The material is built up through overlays, erasures, scratches and translucent strata, creating a moving depth. At the center, an anthropomorphic form can be discerned: not fully affirmed, nor completely dissolved, it oscillates between appearance and disappearance.

This figure seems caught in a liquid or nocturnal environment, as if immersed in an archaic memory. The strokes are deliberately uncertain, almost schematic, recalling primitive icons or ritual signs. The work thus questions the birth of the image: at what moment does matter become a face? From what perceptual threshold do we recognize a presence?

The contrast between dark masses and lighter areas suggests a tension between revelation and concealment. The figure does not impose itself: it resists the gaze, forcing the viewer to participate actively. The painting thus becomes a projecting space where cultural memory, symbolic imagination and perceptual processes are inscribed.

Included in the series devoted to the 'hazardous search for the figure', this work deepens Algo's exploration of pareidolia and recognition mechanisms. It engages the survivance of archetypes, no longer in frontal iconography, but in a slow emergence from the material itself.

Through this contemporary expressive painting, the artist questions the fragility of forms, the construction of meaning, and the latent power of images buried in the collective psyche.
