Emilio Notte, Giocolieri, mixed media on paper, original edition, dated 1950–1960, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Interesting work on paper signed E. Notte at the bottom right, attributable to Emilio Notte, an Italian artist linked to Futurism and later to a personal cubo-expressionist reinterpretation.
The composition depicts an interior scene with figures, built through broken planes and dynamic geometries, typical of the Italian twentieth-century language. The bodies are decomposed into angular volumes and chromatic fields, with a warm palette (ochre, pink, violet) balanced by cool accents (blue and greens), creating a strong visual tension and a sense of internal movement within the scene.
The work shows evident affinities with Notte’s research in the interwar years, a period during which the artist develops a personal language, suspended between Futurism, Cubism, and a modern figurative style with a theatrical and narrative imprint.
Signature:
Signed “E. Notte” at the bottom right (visible in the photo).
Condition:
Good overall condition. Normal signs of time on the paper and slight warping compatible with the age of the artwork. Frame in good condition with minor signs of use. No tears or evident restorations are reported from the images.
Note on attribution:
The work is attributed to Emilio Notte on the basis of the signature and stylistic characteristics. In the absence of a certificate of authenticity, the attribution should be considered as such.
Collecting considerations:
A work of definite interest for collectors of Italian art of the twentieth century, particularly for those who follow the futurist and post-futurist thread. Decorative but also historically coherent with Emilio Notte’s language, suitable for private collections as well as modern interiors.
Shipping:
Careful and professional packaging, tracked shipping.
