A single wooden inkstone from China, late 20th century, made of hard wood, 3 cm high by 30 cm wide by 17 cm deep, weighing 1.2 kg, titled “Inktsteen” and in good condition.

A wooden inkstone (木砚, mù yàn) is a traditional Chinese writing accessory used in calligraphy and painting.
Although inkstones are traditionally made of stone (especially slate), wooden specimens are rarer and often more decorative by nature.
Function and use:
The inkstone is used to grind solid ink sticks with water into liquid ink
The central flat surface serves as the grinding area
The depression or pit collects the ground ink
Calligraphers and painters prepare their own ink for each session
Weight: 1200 grams.
