Emilio Notte (1891-1982), Nude, mixed media on paper, 20 × 25 cm, period 1950–1960, original edition, signed by hand, Italy, sold with frame, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Small figurative composition depicting two figures lying in a strongly stylized interior. The scene is built through vivid color fields — greens, yellows, pinks and browns — laid down with a rapid and vibrant gesture. The figures, simplified and almost deconstructed into planes of color, recall Notte's explorations in the postwar period, when the artist reworks cubist and expressionist suggestions in a personal key. The whole presents an image of domestic intimacy, more emotional than descriptive, where color becomes a structural element of the composition.
Critical framing:
The work belongs to Emilio Notte's mature production, characterized by a synthetic figurativism, sometimes harsh, in which color assumes a constructive function. The small format suggests a study or a private work, yet coherent with the artist's poetics in the years of full maturity.
Conservation status:
Good overall condition. Minimal signs of aging of the paper support compatible with the period. Frame in good condition with slight signs of use.
