Antique bronze table bell dating to 1930–1940, model Iconique, depicting a pompéienne stork with a green patina, 18 cm high and 4.5 cm deep, made in Italy (Pompei) and in good condition with age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Vintage bronze table bell – iconic Pompeian stork (about 18 cm)
Superb antique bronze with authentic green patina, depicting an elegant stork (or stylized crane) with wings spread and long beak raised. Height approx. 18 cm, conical base forming the bell.
Rare and charming detail: the outer clapper is a small sack/bag suspended on a chain, symbolizing the legendary “baby brought by the stork” from European fairy tales. This outer hammer strikes the bell with a light gesture – a clever and typical mechanism!
Inspired by ancient models discovered during the Pompeii excavations (late 19th century), this piece is a reproduction or European variant from the early 20th century (era 1900–1930/1950), in the Art Nouveau / Art Deco style or Alsatian/Viennese folk art. A decorative object, table bell or good‑luck charm symbolizing birth and luck.
Condition: very good, original patina, clear and ringing tone.
Collector’s piece for lovers of animal bronzes, Pompeian vintage items or retro-chic decor!
