Description from the seller
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Artist Photographer – Creator of Contemporary Images
A multidisciplinary photographer, artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first gained recognition for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling presence, almost alive, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaics and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is crafted from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical practice including 3 novels, 1 collection of short stories, 1 graphic novel, 1 photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
