Description from the seller
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, captivated by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and carefully recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law interrogates the fabrication of the contemporary image and the way a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term resilience, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Profile
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical practice including 3 novels, 1 collection of short stories, 1 graphic novel, 1 photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
