Description from the seller
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he prolongs this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selectively structured and carefully recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give birth to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV and humidity resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern and contemporary rendering.
Background / Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops authorial work and music including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer guitarist he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
