Description from the seller
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer and artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle game of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, calling into question our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual microfragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured, and recombined by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong, and assured. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of elements subtly interwoven. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a carefully sought balance between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of the contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Printed on luminous white vinyl, backed between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops authorial and musical projects including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
