Description from the seller
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he expands this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models gain a troubling presence, almost living, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of work based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recombined by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the making of contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Prints are made on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term stability of colors and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
