Imari - Lamp (2) - Gilt bronze

A very elegant pair of Imari porcelain lamps, mounted on bronze bases and collars.

The bodies are porcelain decorated in blue cobalt, iron red, and orange highlights in the Imari taste, with a rich stylized floral design centered around flowering vases framed by reserves and geometric borders of oriental inspiration.

Originally these were decorative vases converted into oil lamps, then one of the two was electrified later.

The bronze mounting features fine openwork around the burners with a knurled decorative knob bearing a heraldic motif.

One of the lamps, the one without the glass, has a crack on the lamp but it does not affect its stability. The other is in very good condition.

Dating from the late 19th century, Meiji era.
