Esther Cela's original contemporary Naïf painting Donde el tiempo se detiene (2025), acrylic on canvas, 130 × 94 cm, signed by hand, in excellent condition, Spain origin, depicting a daytime festive scene.
Description from the seller
Original work of contemporary naive art style that depicts a festive scene in a rural setting, where everyday life and celebration intertwine in a shared space. The composition is built from simple, geometric architecture that frames human action, reinforcing a sense of order, calm, and harmony.
The scene shows different groups of characters living together in a single moment. Some girls seem to be moving toward the music, drawn by the festive atmosphere, while a family remains engaged in conversation, with the mother dialoguing with her son. In another part of the composition, a second family stops at a small crossroads: the girl orients herself toward the music, while the grandmother seems to take another path, closely watched by the mother. These small daily choices provide an intimate, human narrative to the work.
The overall aims to transport us to a village where life is simple and slow, but where music, gathering, and the surroundings turn the moment into an idyllic scene. The bunting suspended between the buildings reinforces the idea of celebration and community, offering visual information about the festive character of the gathering.
The clock, a recurring symbolic element, appears as an omnipresent and silent presence, reminding us of the passage of time and the fleeting nature of shared moments. Deliberately, the artist eschews the use of shadows, opting for a representation where everything is light and color, reinforcing the timeless, luminous, and emotionally positive atmosphere of the scene.
The work is situated within contemporary figurative art, with a personal naive language that values simple life, intergenerational coexistence, and the collective memory tied to shared spaces.
