AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

DAWN is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that captures that suspended moment between rest and reality. The work, influenced by comic language and pop art, transforms a daily scene — waking up — into an iconic image charged with expression and narrative.

The close-up frame intensifies the emotional connection with the character. The face, still wrapped in pillows and sheets, expresses surprise and resistance to the start of the day. The speech bubble with the word “Already?” introduces a clear temporal dimension: Monday arrives too soon. The bold typography of “MONDAY” at the bottom reinforces the idea of routine and repetition.

The composition relies on vibrant chromatic contrasts: the intense yellow of the background symbolizes the light of the new day, while cool blues and speckled whites evoke the intimacy of the domestic space. The well-defined black outlines consolidate the graphic aesthetic characteristic of the artist.

DAWN is not just a waking scene, but a visual reflection on time, routine, and the perception of the start of the week. The work converses with contemporary popular culture, where Monday becomes almost a symbolic character.

With a mix of irony, beauty, and everyday life, DAWN turns a simple gesture —opening the eyes— into a powerful, recognizable, and deeply human image.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
