Description from the seller
Title: “Jesucrificado” (2013)
Original, unique work. Mixed media (acrylic, marker, ink) on canvas.
Large format: 150 x 100 cm.
Year: 2013.
In "Jesucrificado," Rafa López tackles one of the most universal themes in the history of art from a contemporary, disruptive, and deeply personal perspective. The work does not seek traditional solemnity, but subjects sacred iconography to a visual deconstruction process, where the spiritual intersects with popular aesthetics and the language of neo-expressionism.
Analysis of the work: The composition is a fundamental piece of his Pop Surrealist branch. On an imposing canvas, the central figure is fragmented and surrounded by an ecosystem of symbols and grafism that seem to challenge the relationship between myth and current reality. It is a work of great visual tension, where the drama of the theme is balanced with the vitality and freshness of the execution.
Technically, the piece stands out for its linear power and richness of drawing. By omitting spray, the work gains a cruder, more direct definition, where marker and ink take absolute protagonism to structure the chaos. The acrylic provides mass color and gestural energy, creating layers that give the surface an organic vibrancy. The result is a mural with a strong impact that captures the eye and compels a constant rereading of its hidden details.
Logistics and shipping: Due to its large format of 150 x 100 cm, the work is shipped unstretched (professional packaging, rolled in a high-strength transport tube). This method guarantees the painting’s safety during international transit and allows the collector to mount it on a custom wooden frame in their locality.
The canvas features additional painted margins that allow the image to continue smoothly onto the sides of the frame after mounting, ensuring a contemporary, high-quality finish.
Signed by hand on the lower left edge and on the back. Includes a certificate of authenticity from the artist.
