Immersion explores the threshold between presence and dissolution. The face emerges from the water in a suspended state, where time seems to slow and breathing becomes awareness. The figure does not struggle against the medium that surrounds it; rather, it accepts it, allowing the water to become an extension of the body and thought.
The direct gaze establishes an intimate connection with the observer, summoning them into this same space of silence and pressure. The water, simultaneously protective and oppressive, functions as a metaphor for deep emotional states — vulnerability, introspection, restrained resilience.
In this work, immersion is not loss but transformation. It is a moment of withdrawal, where identity remains intact despite the force that envelops it, suggesting that even submerged, we remain conscious, present, and whole.
