Exquisite still life in oil on canvas, signed by José Fernández Morán and dated 1971. It presents the characteristic style of the genre to which it belongs: realistic and meticulous, a style that gradually gained prominence in the History of Art. The great artist Caravaggio (1573-1610) was one of the first to depict still lifes with awareness of the painting itself, but many others drew on him at various points in their careers. With roots in antiquity and very popular in Western art since the 17th century, still life affords the artist more compositional freedom than other pictorial genres such as landscape or portraits. Before 1700, they often contained religious and allegorical symbolism related to the objects depicted.
This work reveals its theatrical character and other reminiscences of the Baroque, for example, the red curtain appearing in the background, the use of chiaroscuro… The elements of the composition—the dead partridges and the mortar—appear on the surface of a wooden table, directly illuminated. It seeks not only visual delight but invites the viewer to contemplate the passage of time, delving into the fleeting beauty of nature.
The shipment of the product will be paid by the buyer according to the dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping costs include custom professional packaging made to measure; and personalized shipping, with tracking number and warranty.
The frame that protects the work is offered as a gift, but it has intrinsic value. It is provided at no additional cost so that when your artwork arrives at your home or destination it can be displayed immediately. Any damage to the frame itself, provided it does not affect the integrity of the artwork, cannot be accepted as a valid reason to file a claim or request cancellation.
