Description from the seller
Romy van Rijckevorsel is a contemporary Dutch artist who has been living and working in Vlijmen since 2002. She was born in 1967 in Drunen and initially worked for many years as a portrait painter before enrolling at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, where she obtained her degree in Painting in 2017. In 2017, van Rijckevorsel started creating her own independent artworks, focusing on paintings. Her work is included in collections both in the Netherlands and abroad. Romy exhibits regularly
"Double Dutch" is a captivating acrylic on canvas artwork that reimagines a detail from a Caravaggio painting. The artist finds inspiration in the old masters, drawn to their restrained use of color and the compelling intensity of their subjects' expressions.
This medium-sized painting features a contemporary portrait of a person with tattoo. The influence of classic art is evident in the composition and the subject's gaze. The artist's modern approach shines through the use of acrylic, spray paint and charcoal, bringing a fresh perspective to traditional themes.
The artwork's subdued palette and focused subject make it a versatile addition to any space. Whether displayed in a living room, study, or bedroom, "Double Dutch" will add depth and intrigue. Its size allows for flexible placement, making it a striking focal point or a complementary piece within a curated collection.
Ready to hang: no, the painting will be rolled and needs to be stretched again by your local framer. Shipping extra-large formats rolled is safer and more environmentally friendly than shipping finished works. The canvas can easily be stretched on-site by a framer near you. A certificate of authenicenty is included
