Sonia J. Grounded XL, an original acrylic and mixed media on canvas from Portugal (2025), 105 x 105 cm, horizontal, signed by hand, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
"Grounded"
"A calm horizon of pale aquas and soft light, anchored by earthy warmth—an interior-ready painting that settles the room."
Description:
"Grounded" reads like a suspended landscape: translucent layers of cool aqua and misty whites hover above a dense, grounded base of deep greens, charcoal, and warm earth tones. A restrained vertical magenta trace introduces a subtle tension—more “signal” than gesture—keeping the composition alive without becoming decorative noise. From a distance it delivers serenity and structure; up close it reveals stratification, quiet abrasion, and controlled drift.
Conditions of Light (Best Viewing):
->Best: indirect daylight (north/east light) or warm-neutral LEDs (approx. 2700K–3500K).
->Works especially well when: light comes from the side, enhancing the layered transitions and the grounded lower band.
->Avoid: strong direct sun hitting the surface for extended periods (UV + glare). If the wall receives direct sunlight, consider UV film on windows or a placement shift.
Materiality & Surface:
->Medium: Acrylic & mixed media on canvas (layered washes, veils, controlled drips, and textured ground).
->Surface character: visibly layered with areas of soft translucency and denser sediment-like passages near the base; perceived depth increases with raking light.
->Overall effect: calm, architectural, and spatial—designed to integrate into premium interiors without dominating them.
Dimensions & Format:
->Dimensions: 105cmX105cm
->Orientation: Horizontal
->Extra margin for stretching: (insert if applicable; typically 5–7 cm if you provide it)
Edition: Single original work
Interior effect: the horizontal format behaves like a “visual ledge”—it stabilizes wide walls and works exceptionally well above sofas, sideboards, and low cabinetry.
Photography & Color Accuracy:
->The photographs show the work in interior contexts. Because the surface is layered and the palette combines cool aquas/turquoises with warm earth accents (ochre/amber) and a magenta trace, colors may shift slightly depending on ambient light temperature and viewing angle. This is characteristic of works with visible stratification and depth.
Residential Placement Recommendations:
->Above a sofa in a living room (especially with natural greenery views)
->A lobby/lounge seating area where the work can “settle” the space
->Bedroom above a console/low headboard wall (calm horizon effect)
->Wellness / spa lounge or quiet corridor zones needing visual grounding
Recommended Lighting:
->Wall washer or two to three track heads with warm-neutral LEDs (2700K–3500K).
->Aim for an even wash across the surface; avoid a tight spotlight that creates hot glare on layered/varnished passages.
->If using multiple spots, keep them symmetrical and slightly off-axis for clean, premium illumination.
Framing / Mounting Recommendations (Suggested):
->To match the premium, minimal framing shown in your mockups:
->Thin wood frame (natural oak or walnut) with a clean, architectural profile.
->Keep the framing minimal and modern—no ornate moulding.
->If you want a sharper gallery finish: use a float frame with a narrow shadow gap (works especially well for horizontal pieces).
->If glazing is used (optional): specify UV-protective acrylic + spacers so the canvas never touches glazing. Many collectors prefer canvas works unglazed for surface integrity.
