朝霧 (Asagiri, Japanese for morning mist) is a large, atmospheric painting that hovers between landscape and memory. Deep, cool greens and dark earth tones anchor the top and bottom of the canvas, while a soft, pale band opens through the centre like a horizon slowly emerging from fog. The image suggests first light spreading over distant hills, or a quiet body of water just before the day becomes visible.

The surface is built from many diluted layers of chromium oxide green, raw sienna and yellow ochre, allowing the pigments to sink into the weave of the canvas. Faint streaks, blurred transitions and small irregular marks remain visible, like traces of drifting vapour or foliage half-hidden in mist. These unpolished details embody a wabi-sabi sensibility: beauty found in imperfection, in subtle asymmetry and in the gentle erosion of forms.
