Description from the seller

Eliano Fantuzzi
70x50 oil on canvas
Signed front and back

- ELIANO FANTUZZI -

his expressionist language remains unchanged. In the chromatic range the cool tones of blues, greens, and violets usually prevail. From a formal point of view the synthesis process is also accentuated by remarkable pictoriality in the construction of the image, which relies mainly on the laying on of color. Therefore space tends to flatten, become two-dimensional, and objects come to life in a vibrant and dynamic execution.
Eliano Fantuzzi was born in Modena in 1909 and died in 1989. He spent his childhood in Verona, where he had moved with his family and where he attended the academy of art.
Fundamental for his formation was the experience in Paris, where he arrived to study Impressionism and where he learned, instead, Expressionism. His nocturnal settings, in which blue and violet tones prevail, were also pictorially influenced by the "Roman School." He participated in the Quadriennale di Roma and in the Biennale di Venezia.
