AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Portrait of Sitting Bull, Tatanka iyotanka. Lakota guide. Mixed media; oil paints, acrylics, textures with minerals and soil that I collected myself from the field, pieces of work sacks that belonged to my grandparents and great-grandparents, the sack pieces are about 120 years old and with those sacks my ancestors worked in the fields. Some of the minerals in the work came from my mother who is a potter and are often used with clay. It is painted on a wooden board to enhance expressiveness, using the textures and grain of the wood; the technique is mixed, using oil and spray. Painted out of love for Native American culture, its attitudes, and way of living. Interest in the roots of the American continent, history, spirituality or natural conception of life, shamanism, rituals.

I am Sergio Rivera Martínez, an artist from Madrid. It could be said that I have been painting since I was born.

Art came into my life naturally; my grandparents and mother were artisans and artists who work with wood, tapestries, ceramics, and of course painting.

All the memories I have are associated with painting… At home, at my grandparents’ house, birthday and Christmas gifts that are sets of paints, while I watched my favorite cartoons I painted. I painted so much that when I left the house I did it as well, and thus I began to experiment with graffiti in my early adolescence until today, becoming part of the graffiti history book of Majadahonda.

Currently I work on canvases with a realism that is meticulous in every detail or any expression. I focus the subjects of my work mainly on nostalgia, the retro and/or the classical.

Madrid Print Fair 2024
Various exhibitions at Espacio Beny 2023-2024
