Description from the seller
This work, titled “Wounded Space,” is part of my pictorial investigation into the emotional landscape and the territories of memory, developed in the series Gardens of Oblivion. The composition unfolds across two main planes: a gestural, organic, vibrant upper field, and a lower, more structured area where a symbolic architecture emerges. The blue background, built through layered applications, spontaneous strokes, and glazes, creates a territory that evokes a mental garden, a space where memories, thoughts, and emotions continually transform.
In “Wounded Space” a geometric construction appears, delineated with precision, functioning as refuge, boundary, and metaphor for the inner self. Its dark, textured interior suggests depth, introspection, and the accumulation of experiences, while the small chromatic signs provide rhythm and visual tension. The presence of the tree, stylized and solitary, reinforces the scene’s poetic dimension, establishing a dialogue between nature, architecture, and consciousness. Through the contrast between gesture and structure, between chaos and order, the work offers a space of silent contemplation, where the viewer is invited to project their own memory and to inhabit an intimate landscape charged with emotional resonances.
About R.ROBIN
Robinson Rodríguez García is a visual artist, theatre designer, and drawing professor, born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and based in Spain. He graduated in 2003 from the Provincial Academy of Fine Arts and pursues an artistic practice centered on painting and contemporary language, where abstraction, geometry, and a strong symbolic charge converge. Between 2003 and 2005 he taught drawing workshops at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech School of Art Instructors, and from 2006 to 2009 he worked as a costume and set designer for the Provincial Council of Performing Arts of Santa Clara, an experience that decisively influenced his spatial and formal conception within the visual arts.
His work has been shown in several solo exhibitions in Cuba, notably at the Provincial Gallery of Art and in institutional spaces in Santa Clara. He has also participated in important group exhibitions and international fairs, including Art Basel Miami, group exhibitions in France, and contemporary art events in the Americas and Europe. In 2017 he participated in art fairs in Mexico. His career is complemented by studies and international workshops related to scenographic design and visual creation, consolidating a multidisciplinary artistic profile that dialogues between painting, space, and the contemporary symbolic experience.
