Description from the seller
Set of 2 handblown glass art sculptures 'Coral' - In the style of Maxence Maillot - Turquoise with Aventurine & Deep Blue speckled
A stunning set of two organic, handblown glass art sculptures, reminiscent of sea anemones or coral formations. These pieces are executed in a style popularized by renowned French glass artists such as Maxence Maillot, characterized by their flowing, tentacle-like protrusions and vibrant color palettes. Turquoise & Aventurine bowl:
This vibrant piece features a transparent turquoise base with heavy inclusions of 'Aventurine' (copper/gold-colored glitter). This traditional technique gives the bowl a luxurious sparkle, especially when placed in direct sunlight. The "tentacles" are elegantly stretched, creating a dynamic sense of movement.
Deep blue/gray speckled bowl:
A complex design with a double layer of glass tentacles (a bowl within a bowl). It has a refined speckled pattern in shades of deep blue and light gray. This piece feels very organic and testifies to glassblowing artistry at a high level.
Both pieces are provided with a ground and polished pontil mark on the underside, a hallmark of high-quality, handmade glass.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. The glass is clear and the colors are vivid. The tips of the "tentacles" are fully intact.
