Description from the seller
Franck Duminil (1933-2014)
Mixed technique on Arches paper
Signed bottom right
On the back: signed and dated 27-12-1979
Dimensions: 77 × 57 cm
This original work by Franck Dumilil sits within gestural and minimalist research, where the spontaneity of the line dialogues with mastery of space.
The composition develops around a game of dynamic lines, projections and curved shapes in balance, in a deliberately restrained palette of blacks, greys and light ochre and red accents. The artist exploits emptiness as a structuring element, giving the whole a breath and visual tension characteristic of lyrical abstraction from the late 20th century.
The traces, scratches and superpositions testify to instinctive yet controlled work, where movement seems suspended. Arches paper, renowned for its museum-grade quality, adds depth and subtlety to the texture effects.
An elegant and expressive work, representative of Franck Dumilil's abstract practice at the end of the 1970s.
In general good condition (see photos)
