James Coignard (1925-2008) - Dynamic vertical à la tache brune

Unique work by the French artist James Coignard. This is a painting from 1973 entitled "Dynamic vertical à la tache brune", 75.5 cm high and 55.5 cm wide, in his characteristic geometric abstract style in which the use of various techniques including collage, painting and printmaking makes it an emblematic piece of the pop artist. Clearly visible are newspaper clippings and relief applications.
The work is hand-signed at the bottom left; it shows no damage. on the back the title and year by Coignard are visible. The painting comes from a private collection, purchased at a Roman gallery in 1985 (receipt available on request).
