Description from the seller
Magnificent late 19th-century Italian genre painting attributed to Odoardo Toscani.
Masterfully executed in oil on panel, depicting the splendid hills of the Monferrato with the village of Mombaruzzo in the background, which gives the work its title.
Dedicated or commissioned by a certain Dr. Delzanno - Gaudio.
The title and dedication are visible on the back of the work.
Coming from the collection of Dr. Boa, a well-known antique dealer and collector from Padua who has recently passed away.
We, as a company, were able to obtain it, together with a considerable quantity of other high-level works, directly from the deceased’s heirs.
Works by the same author to which the painting is attributed, in obviously smaller sizes, have achieved excellent results at various internationally important auction houses such as Sotheby’s and at smaller houses such as Wannenes, Maison Bibelot, and Capitolium, among others.
Signature of the author at the bottom right.
Very large dimensions, exceeding two meters in width.
Signs of age and wear clearly visible in the photos.
Photos are an integral part of the lot description.
Insured and traceable shipment.
