Description from the seller
The Girl with the Parasol is a painting made in 1997 by the Italian painter Nando Chiappa. The work depicts a young female figure caught in a moment of quiet, characterized by the presence of the parasol, an iconic element that recalls the 19th-century painting tradition and the imagery of outdoor life.
The composition is built around the central figure, rendered with a soft brushstroke and a harmonious palette, in which the colors contribute to create an intimate and suspended atmosphere. The parasol, in addition to its narrative function, introduces a play of light and shadow that enhances the face and clothing of the girl, emphasizing the contemplative character of the scene.
Signed and dated on the back, the work sits within the mature phase of the artist’s production, a period in which Chiappa shows particular attention to the human subject and the lyrical dimension of representation. The painting is presented with a frame and glass, elements that complete its aesthetic enjoyment and conservation.
