The Evenings. A Winter Tale is the debut novel of Gerard Kornelis van het Reve. The story was first published in November 1947 by De Bezige Bij, under the pen name Simon van het Reve, and in the same month of that year was awarded the Reina Prinsen Geerligsprijs based on the manuscript. Later editions after 1953 appeared under the name G.K. van het Reve and from 1973 under the name Gerard Reve. The story covers ten days in the life of the 23-year-old office clerk Frits van Egters in as many chapters.
