Description from the seller

Antique ivory figurine – Renaissance lady – Europe – ca. 1850–1900 – on a wooden pedestal

A highly refined hand-carved ivory figurine depicting an elegant Renaissance lady in richly draped court attire. The figure wears a characteristic pleated collar (molensteenkraag), voluminous puff sleeves and a gracefully falling skirt that is subtly gathered by hand. The posture is stately and restrained, with a finely wrought face and carefully modeled hairstyle.

The detailing in the lacework, the drapery of the fabric, and the proportions of the body clearly demonstrate the craftsmanship of a 19th-century sculptor. The figurine stands on a black-painted wooden pedestal that beautifully contrasts with the warm ivory patina.
