Bohemian DW Karlsbad porcelain table set, gilding with fine gold, gallant scenes – circa 1920–1930
Complete set of three matching pieces in gilded fine porcelain, from the DW Porzellanmanufaktur Karlsbad (Bohemia / Karlovy Vary).
Rectangular tray with pierced handles
Dimensions: 37 × 17 cm
Covered box / candy jar
Dimensions: height 11 cm – diameter 17 cm
Centerpiece bowl on a socle
Dimensions: height 7.5 cm – diameter 26.5 cm
The set features a rich gold decoration, combining matte and shiny gilding, pierced friezes, guilloché and decorative cartouches.
The central medallions are adorned with 18th-century-inspired gallant scenes (elegant figures in a landscape), typical of prestigious Bohemian porcelain productions intended for European export.
The pieces bear on the reverse the factory mark DW Karlsbad, with mention of 1921, as well as a decorator's handwritten signature and the note “fine porcelain inlaid with fine gold.”
Between the Wars, circa 1920–1930, a transitional period between late Belle Époque and Art Deco.
Good overall condition for a set of this period.
Gold wear in places on the bowl and the tray shows oxidation traces but it remains a very beautiful, high-quality set in very good condition
