Sagitta - Der Puppenjunge - 1926

Extremely rare and historically important LGB /gay novel. The Scots-German author, Mackay, had published openly gay novels in the 1900s that were considered beyond the pale and had been seized by the Prussian authorities. The novel Puppenjunge was privately published in '26. It is not known how many copies Mackay managed to sell but it's probably in the low double digits and the rest of the stock was destroyed after his death. Christopher Isherwood was apparently an admirer. Highly recommended. A scholar later wrote a book about Mackay and highlighted this extraordinary novel. Our copy comes with the original slipcase, which is in great condition. The book itself is also in very good condition indeed. Copy #270 of supposedly 500.
