Description from the seller
Table bell with original saucer – Cast brass decorated – Neo-Renaissance style – Late 19th/early 20th century
Description
Important cast-brass table bell, complete with its original coordinated saucer, made in a Neo-Renaissance style dating from the late 19th to the early decades of the 20th century.
The object features rich relief decoration with motifs inspired by Renaissance repertoire: volutes, vegetal elements, medallions and allegorical figures. The handle is cast in the round and harmoniously integrates with the body of the bell.
The casting is solid and consistent, with good definition of decorative details. The coordinated saucer repeats the same quality of workmanship.
This is a decorative object with historic taste, typical of late 19th-century revival production, intended for desks, bourgeois living rooms or rooms of representation.
There is a natural patina of time, not polished, which enhances the authenticity of the whole.
