Description from the seller

Beautiful small work, probably an early work by the artist upon his arrival in Paris in the 1900s.
In fairly good condition, perhaps in need of a small cleaning.

At the age of 20, Muret goes to Paris where he studies under Gustave Courtois and Henri Carot, who introduced him to glassmaking.
Back in Switzerland, he settled as early as 1904 in Lens in Valais and there he built a house. He painted a large part of his oeuvre in this village and also devoted some paintings and writings to his hunting trips with Charles Ferdinand Ramuz and led by Joseph Bonvin de Chelin. Several personalities, such as Ramuz, René Auberjonois and Igor Stravinsky, stayed at his Lens house.
In 1919, he left Valais and returned to Lavaux.
