Description from the seller
Description of the work:
Oil painting and black pencil on mulberry paper. The work is an original signed by the artist Valentin Prévot. Its format is 20x24 cm. It is sold framed directly by the artist with certificate of authenticity. Its condition is excellent.
The work will be sent framed in a protected package.
Valentin Prévot's work is realistic and figurative. Through his drawings and paintings, he carries out a process of political and identitarian research on his history as well as that of his family. His current artistic work aims to pay homage to him but also to perpetuate his ideas as well as his journey, to anchor them in time.
With the help of portraits, paintings/drawings as well as the will to understand and appropriate this history, Valentin has now been working for several months on a series of graphic 'objects' and installations intended to complete this background archive, to add his gaze, his sensitivity and his voice as an artist.
Some of his works draw inspiration from Schiele, Kokoschka but also from German expressionists such as Dix or Grosz. The central theme of his work is the questions of transmission and intergenerational trauma. Valentin has understood that through this history he could address all subjects that personally matter to him, such as questions of identity, the work of research and transmission, ideological, philosophical and political excesses...
