Iwachu Nambu ironware teapot with the Arare hail pattern from Japan, Showa era (circa 1980–1990), iron, dimensions about 12 cm wide, 12 cm deep and 14 cm high, in good used condition with some interior rust, includes the lid.
Description from the seller
This is a charming Showa-era Iwachu (岩鋳) Nambu Ironware (南部鉄器) mini teapot featuring the traditional Arare (霰) hail pattern, one of the most iconic designs in Japanese cast iron craftsmanship.
Iwachu is a well-known manufacturer of Nambu Tekki from Iwate Prefecture, highly regarded for durable and beautifully textured cast iron products. The evenly spaced raised dots create both a decorative and functional surface, enhancing grip and heat retention.
This compact size makes it ideal for serving tea for one or two people. It can also be displayed as a tasteful piece of Japanese traditional craft in an interior setting.
The interior shows some rust due to age and storage. It is unclear whether the inside is fully enameled or plain cast iron. The item has been used only a few times and then stored for many years.
A lovely example of Showa retro Japanese craftsmanship, suitable for collectors of Japanese tea utensils, cast iron ware, or traditional decorative objects.
